So You're Newly Engaged!! What's Next?

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement! What a thrilling and exciting time for y'all to begin planning your future together.

Here are 7 tips for newly engaged couples:

1. Take some time to enjoy the moment:

As a newly engaged person myself, I can tell you that it's easy to get caught up in the planning and logistics of a wedding, you just want to get everything started right now because you are so excited! But it's important to take a step back and savor this special time together with your new Fiancé. Make sure to carve out time to celebrate your engagement with each other and also your loved ones.

2. Set your priorities:

Before you start making any decisions for your big day, sit down with your partner and discuss your priorities for the wedding. What is the most important? Is it the guest list, venue, food, music, or photo and video? Knowing where your priorities align will help when you make decisions for your big day.

3. Create a budget:

Weddings/elopements can be expensive, so it's important to set a budget and stick to it. Decide on how much you are comfortable spending and allocate your funds accordingly. This will help you make decisions that align with your financial goals and avoid overspending.

4. Start planning early:

Can you plan too early? No such thing. The earlier you start, the more time you'll have to research and compare options for different vendors and venues, with the added bonus of less stress. Plus, if you book everything early, you'll have a better chance of securing the best options for your big day. Most vendors/venues raise their price on a yearly basis as daily living gets more expensive, or they upgrade their equipment and offer new things. So if you can lock in earlier, the better off you will be for your budget :) Plus then you will start to see where you can add or take away things in your budget.

5. Don't forget about the marriage:

While planning an elopement or wedding is important, it's even more important to focus on the marriage itself. Make sure to set aside time to discuss your values, goals, and expectations for your future together. This will help lay a strong foundation for your marriage together.

6. Don't be afraid to delegate:

There will be a lot of tasks and decisions to handle during the planning process. Don't be afraid to delegate tasks to your partner, family members, or friends. This will help ease the workload and allow you to focus on the things that are most important to you.

7. Seek support:

Planning a wedding/elopement can be overwhelming, so it's important to seek support from your partner, family, and friends. Don't be afraid to ask for help or advice. Surrounding yourself with a supportive network will help make the process smoother and more enjoyable. Also, your planner or photographer will have years of experience in the industry and can also help you narrow down your search for other vendors, locations, or elopement/wedding advice in general.

I hope these tips are helpful as you start your journey as a newly engaged couple! I'm wishing you all the best as you plan your big day and build a lifetime of love and happiness together. <3
